I kind of want to give this item a low review simply because I do not believe it should be extra. It should be something that comes with the machine.. But that has nothing to do with its purpose or function. I use mine all of the time. If I am cutting I am using the spatula to remove my cuts. It always works great and when I use it I rarely tear anything.
For thin papers or extra sticky mats this is a must!

I love my Cricut, but this spatula with use really isn’t worth the money. It was to designed to help you remove what’s been cut off of the Cricut mats, and while it does help you do this, it also picks up a lot of the sticky adhesive from the mats, which can then interfere with the effectiveness of the tool for future cuts. I tried to clean it with finger nail polish remover (what I always use to clean stickers off anything) but it never really was like new again. Additionally, with normal use, the large spatula area became bent. I prefer my Creative Memories tool, that has much less surface area and does a better job of picking up my beautiful letters from the mats. This spatula is a must have for the cricut. I can do without all of the other tools sold in their tool kit, as long as I have this one that only costs less than $5. Buy it, you will be glad you did!
For those of you who don’t know, this tool allows you to remove cut pieces from the sticky cricut mat with more ease than any other tool I have tried.

I have the Cricut machine and this was essential to own as well. It is just what it says it is. It’s used as a spatula to remove your work from the mat. It is great for scraping up those tiny projects. I recommend it to anyone with a Cricut machine of any kind. I agree with other reviewers, that this should come with all of the Cricut machines, but I can’t fault the tool itself for that, so it earns 5 stars from me=)

DO NOT BUY THIS IF YOU HAVE SOMETHING SIMILAR! They all do the same function – help lift items off a tacky mat.
If you have something similar – then please don’t get it. This SHOULD come with the machine – it’s essential, you need this to get the paper (or whatever you’re cutting) off the mat. (Also for the price point, they should have packaged a few extra mats – you will blow through them if you don’t set your blade depth right).
ALSO need – get small tweezer – with little heads – it’ll help lift more delicate stuff that the spatula may be too harsh to use.
